About our School

The old primary school was established in Watlington in 1874. We relocated to new purpose-built accommodation on a site, which is shared with the local secondary school, Icknield Community College, and Rainbow Nursery in February 2000.
There are nine individual classrooms and a Foundation Stage unit, large hall and a multi purpose/music room. We plan to build a new classroom in 2007 and create a purpose built ICT suite. We are fortunate to have separate library areas for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. All parts of the school building have been adapted for wheelchair access and there are two specially equipped disabled toilets.
The school has a large playing field and there are play areas for the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 children. Children can attend our Foundation Stage classes from the age of three but usually they are four. Children of statutory school age stay at our school until the age of eleven. The catchment area for our school is the beautiful town of Watlington and Pyrton, Shirburn, Britwell Salome, Portabello, Upperton, Cuxham and Brightwell Baldwin.

Watlington Primary School: Bright Futures

Pictured above is a beautiful mosaic on the reception wall showing the life of the school. This magnificent piece was designed and made by the children and local craftsmen and women. Since the school moved to the new site there have been many changes and many opportunities have been opened up to the children. We are lucky to have fantastic open playing fields, excellent ICT facilities and space to teach and learn music. We have much to be proud of but we want to continue to develop the school and move forward so that we provide education today for the citizens of tomorrow.
