Your Child in our Care
Security
You should be secure in the knowledge that your child is safe at school. The school has an anti-bullying policy. However if a problem arises we try to act immediately if there is any accusation of bullying. We stress to the children that bullying is not the same as teasing or falling out with someone. In this way, we hope to identify real cases of bullying and act appropriately as soon as possible.
All visitors to school are required to report to the school office and receive an identification label. At 9.10am the school gates are locked and entrance is either by the front door, which has a security lock, or the Foundation Stage entrance, which has a security door. The perimeter of the school is securely fenced. The school gates are re-opened at 3.00pm. Parents are asked to telephone the school early on the first day of the child’s absence. If a child does not arrive in school by 9.15am and we have no information the school administrator will contact the parents.
Equal Opportunities
Every member of our school community is valued irrespective of their race, gender, background, learning abilities or disabilities. All parts of the school building have been adapted for wheelchair access and there are two specially equipped disabled toilets. We seek to engender an atmosphere of tolerance and sensitivity so that everyone in our school is conscious of the needs of others.

Special Needs
We have a dedicated member of staff who has responsibility for Special Needs. The Senco is employed to co-ordinate special needs provision and she manages two trained teaching assistants who support SEN pupils throughout the school. Each class has a teaching assistant who works under the supervision of the class teacher. Sometimes, teaching assistants work with a group of pupils who have a specific need or they may be targeted to work with a group of pupils on an extension activity. If a child is experiencing specific learning or behavioural difficulties the parents will be consulted at an early stage and a plan of action drawn up.
Able Pupils
We aim to create an ethos of achievement in our school and one in which all pupils know that they are valued and cared for. We celebrate excellence in our weekly assemblies and there is a display of excellent work outside the Head Teacher’s office. We have developed a clear plan to ensure that our children have access to a rich and challenging curriculum within class lessons and through our comprehensive programme of extra curricular activities. Progress is tracked and monitored by the co-ordinator for able pupils and the assessment co-ordinator. |
